Student AI usage policies and best practices

Goal

Use AI in BoodleBox responsibly and get the most out of it as a student.

Follow your course's rules first

Every instructor and institution sets its own expectations for AI use, and they can differ per assignment. Check your instructor's guidance before using AI on graded work.

Use AI as a thinking partner

  • Treat AI output as a first draft or a sounding board, not a finished answer.

  • Ask it to explain its reasoning, suggest approaches, or critique your work.

  • Verify anything important. AI can be confidently wrong — see Understanding model limitations and hallucinations. For facts, use research models like Perplexity that cite sources.

Academic integrity

  • Do your assignment work inside the assignment, not in a separate personal chat. BoodleBox can tell which environment work was done in, and personal-chat work isn't credited to an assignment.

  • Be honest about how you used AI, per your course's policy.

Your work is yours
